Milk flows but is not frothing

1. Cleaning the breather nearly always solves the problem.

2. Replace the breather. 

Milk not hot enough

Z5 and Professional Milk Frother

Turning the selector closer to the steam position makes it hotter.

X7 and X9

Could be a variety of reasons. Call service.

No Milk

Profi and Z5

1. Remove frother. Check steam. If there is no steam or weak steam see  "Steam Arm- No Steam or Water" in troubleshooting.

2. If there is good steam the frother is blocked. Clean the frother.

3. If it has been already cleaned something is still blocking it. Strip and soak overnight in milk steam cleaner and warm water.

4. Replace frother.

 

X7

Is there steam?

No-Blocked or calcified. Needs to come into workshop.

Yes- Blockage in milk system. Strip and clean milk system. If it has been already cleaned something is still blocking it.

Strip and soak milk system and hose overnight in milk steamer cleaner and warm water.

 

X9

Is there steam?

No- Blocked or calcified. Needs to come into workshop.

Yes- Blockage in milk system. Strip and clean milk system. If it has been already cleaned something is still blocking it.

Strip and soak outlet nozzle assembly and hoses overnight in milk steam cleaner and warm water.

Most common blockage points-white tube, black elbows taht have red o-ring on them.

Make sure it is assembled correctly. Hot milk from left nozzle, white tube and milk outlet.

Frothed milk from right nozzle, black tube and milk outlet.

Steam Arm -No Steam or Water

Remove frother, cover cap on steam arm if fitted and unscrew the black steam nozzle. Press steam.

Good steam. Nozzle blocked. Clear with paper clip.

No steam. Needs to come into the workshop.

Steam Pressure Low

Water system is calcified. Run the descale program.

If steam does not improve it needs to come into the workshop.

Steam releasing without pushing button

Steam valve is sticking. Carry out a descale.

If this does not work the valve will need to be repaired or replaced in the workshop.

Milk constantly dripping/running

Raise foamer nozzle to highest position.

Raise machine so that milk hose inlet is the same height as the milk container being used.

Message-Empty Tray

1. Wet or Dirty tray contact points. Use warm soapy water to clean the area around the contacts on the back of the tray to remove any coffee residue build up.

    Rinse well with clean water. Dry the contacts thoroughly with paper towel or cloth.

Note:

    Make sure the tray is out of the machine for at least 8 seconds. The machine needs 1-2 seconds after reinserting the tray for it to sense the tray.

 

2. Do step 1 but leave the tray out of the machine overnight so everything can dry out.

 

If the message still occurs the next morning the machine will need to come into the workshop.

 

 

 

Messages- Tray Missing

1. Make sure that the tray is fully inserted with A final 'click' into place.

2. Remove the drip tray and wipe inside where the tray goes. There may be spillage stopping the tray going in fully.

3. Inspect the drip tray and clean any coffee and moisture buildup from around the metal contacts along the back of the drip tray.

Message- Fill System

The Water filter, if fitted, could be completely blocked. Remove the water filter and retry.

If that fails it is likely there is an internal blockage.

Workshop repairs required.

Message-Calcified

Normal message telling you it is time to do a descale. Run the descale program.

Message- Clean Now

1. Normal message that comes up every 250 cups. Carry out a tablet clean.

2. The coffee machine has had a tablet clean but the machine still displays the message "Clean Now".

This can happen if the cleaning cycle is interrupted. Run the cleaning cycle again.

 

If this doesn't work the machine needs to come into the workshop and have the brewing unit serviced.

Message- Empty Grounds

The tray must be out for at least 20 seconds or the machine will not recognize the grounds tray has been emptied.

Note: The machine 'counts' the number of coffees made since the drip tray was last emptied.

It is best to always empty the grounds bin when emptying the drip tray.

Turn machine off from the power point for 10 minutes to clear any errors.

If neither of these work then workshop repair is required.

Message- Fill Beans

Try turning off at the power point for 2 minutes then switch back on again. 

If this fails the machine will need to come into the workshop.

 

Additional information for X7 and X9

Check bean hopper sliders are not closed. Open cover on back of the machine behind the bean canisters.

Each bean canister has a slider on the bottom. If pushed in, no beans will go into the grinder. Make sure sliders are open.



Message- Open Tap

The Water filter, if fitted, could be completed blocked. Remove the water filter and retry.

If that fails it is likely there is an internal blockage.

Workshop repairs required.

 

Message- Fill Water

Remove and empty the water tank. Make sure the magnet located in the tank moves freely.

If the magnet is stuck it will require workshop attention.

Message- Please Wait

Machine is not heating. Workshop repair required.

Malfunction, Error, Fault-Messages 1 to 6

Malfunction, Error or Fault 1 to 6 is an internal error.

Workshop repairs required.

Malfunction 8

The brewer is jammed. Try turning the machine off and back on again.

If this does not work the machine needs to come into the workshop for service.

Does not work-nothing on display

Check the basics:

1. Check the switch on the machine is turned on. Most have a switch located on the back of the machine.

    The Z5 machine switch is located on the left hand side bottom edge.

2. Check the plug is connected to the power point and the power is switched on.

3. Check that the power point is actually working, try another appliance in the same point.

4. Switch off from the power point for 2 minutes to clear any errors.

If all this fails the machine will need to come in for a service.

Coffee is flowing from behind the spout

There is a blockage in the outlet spouts.

Return to workshop for service.

Coffee or water in the grounds tray

The brewer O ring is split.

Return to workshop for service and o-ring replacement.

Slow Flow

The shower screen is clogged.

Check grinder adjustment- possibly too fine. Set the grinder coarser (larger dots) and tablet clean.

If this fails the machine needs to come into the workshop.

Water Leak

Is the leak under the water tank side?

Check the water tank is in correctly and there is nothing preventing the water tank from sealing.

Check for foreign objects, like a bean, under the tank or in the water tank seal.

Anything else and it will require workshop repair.

Cannot get tray back in

Brewer is in lowered position.

Put drip tray in but not the used grounds bin.

Turn machine off then on again to reset.

Cannot get into descale

Machine is programmed for filter.

Go into program and change to no filter.

Do not forget to change back after descale.

Descale takes too long

Descale should only take 50 minutes.

1. Is the machine plumbed in? Was the tap turned off and the tank emptied before starting the descale?

 Turn off water to the tank. Lift out tank and empty it. Lifting out the tank forces the final rinse stage of the descale.

Put tank back and turn water on. Press decalc button when promtped.

 

2. For non plumbed machines check taht only 600ml of water has been used.

Lifting out the tank to force the final rinse stage of the descale. Fill the water tank and put it back on the machine.

Presss decalc button when prompted.

 

3. If the process was interrupted.

Start again from the beginning.

 

4. If none of these there may be a blockage.

Return to workshop for service.

Coffee tastes terrible after descale

1. Was the filter left in during descale?

If it was replace the filter.

 

2. Descale operation has been interrupted.

Run the program again.
